The long-running residency saga surrounding Launceston’s Penuela family appears to be at an end.
Just five months ago the family appeared to be set for deportation back to Colombia, due to a lack of documentation for a former employer.
Now the family has been informed its dream of permanent residency has been granted.
The news this week comes after months of uncertainty and battles over bridging visas.
The family came to national attention last year with anxiety heightened in October when the Administrative Appeals Tribunal refused to grant the family visas.
The family says the result is a dream come true and will be grateful for the rest of their lives.
