Launceston residents are being urged to be on alert with reports of a man door knocking the area, claiming to be fundraising for the Launceston General Hospital.
The Department of Health says that the LGH does not door knock to raise funds for the hospital, and nor do groups who raise funds on the hospital’s behalf.
The Department says the door knocker, who has been reported by members of the public, is not representing the LGH or the Department of Health, or any related entity supporting the hospital or the Department.
Members of the public are advised not to donate money to this person.
The public is also advised that no public hospitals in Tasmania conduct door knocking for fundraising.
Anyone with a report of potential illegitimate fundraising activities should notify Consumer, Building and Occupational Services (CBOS) by visiting cbos.tas.gov.au or phoning 1300 654 499.
