A 31-year-old male police constable from the North West Coast has been charged with assault, alleged to have occurred early this year.
The offence is alleged to have been committed at Burnie on January 29th, while the officer was on duty.
Police say he’s been placed on non-operational duties pending the outcome of the case.

The constable has been listed to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on October 27th.
Police say it’s not appropriate to make any further comment given the matter is now before the court.
