Tasmania Fire Service crews are using planes to determine if lightning strikes across the state during yesterday’s storms caused fires.
The TFS says there were eight thousand ground lightning strikes over 24 hours.
Lightning that ignited a tree spread and burnt out an old and abandoned house at Kentish.

High fire danger ratings apply to the Furneaux Islands, Central North, North East, East Coast, Midlands and the South East.
The State Emergency service had 12 callouts during the storms and power supply was disrupted across the state’s north west and north.
