Work on Devonport’s new $60 million indoor sports stadium near the Devonport Oval is a step closer after the State Government has delivered the first $2.5 million instalment of its $25 million commitment to the project.

The stadium will provide state-of-the-art facilities for seven sports, including basketball and netball, a function centre and multi-club social and administration facilities.

It’s hoped the facility will also lead to Devonport attracting more major tournaments and championship events.

The project is jointly funded by State and Federal Governments and the Devonport City Council.

Premier and Braddon MP Jeremy Rockliff says the stadium will not only benefit Devonport, but also the wider North-West Coast sporting community.
