The daffodils in in bloom, plover chicks are hatching and lambs being born are a sure sign spring is almost here, but there’s another not so delightful reminder warmer weather is on the way, with recent snake sightings on the North-West Coast.
Sightings have been reported in Devonport, Montello and Shorewell as the reptiles emerge from winter hibernation.
Scott Smith, from North West Snake Catchers says he’s had several call-outs in the past week.
Mr Smith says it’s not too cold or uncommon for snakes to start to emerge at this time of year, sometimes in a state of semi-hibernation.
He says even though snakes spotted may be drowsy, it’s still best to leave them alone and call the experts if you are concerned and don’t try to move them on yourself.
