Renewable energy training hub for North-West

The North-West Coast is set to be the leader in renewable energy with a new $27.2 million TasTAFE Clean Energy Centre of Excellence to be built in Burnie.

The centre is being funded jointly by State and Federal Governments.

The centre will focus on training students to take up opportunities in the renewables energy sector, including wind generation and pumped hydro.

The facility will include state-of-the-art equipment for training in design, construction and maintenance of renewable energy infrastructure.

A key component of the centre will a be 25-room student accommodation unit, which will be critical for students travelling from regional and remote areas to study.

Tasmanian Minister for Skills and Training and Braddon MP Felix Ellis the demand for trained workers in the renewable energy sector will be huge.
