The State Government has confirmed the redeveloped Dial Regional Sports Complex at Penguin will remain in council hands and won’t be transferred to Stadiums Tasmania.
In 2022, the Government committed $25 million for infrastructure upgrades at the complex, which will enable it to host elite sporting content including VFL and AFLW, as a designated AFL Tier 4 venue.
Central Coast Mayor Cheryl Fuller says the council will consult with complex users to determine the best allocation of the funding.
While there’s no firm plans in place yet, the lack of suitable seating at the main oval for larger crowds has been recognised as a key element of any future development at the complex.
