Driver killed in Huon Highway crash

One person has died, and three others have been treated in hospital – after a serious two vehicle crash at Lower Longley, in the state’s south yesterday.

Authorities believe a car lost control while negotiating a sweeping right hand bend, crossing over to the wrong side of the road and colliding with an oncoming vehicle.

The driver of the first car was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital with critical injuries, but she was unable to be saved.

While the driver and two child passengers of the second car were also treated at the Royal, for minor injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident, with a report to be prepared for the coroner.

Any witnesses of the crash, or people with dashcam footage of the Huon Highway at Lower Longley at around 3:10pm yesterday afternoon is urged to contact police on 131 444, or submit an anonymous report through Crime Stoppers.
