A voluntary enforceable undertaking between Tasmanian aged care provider Southern Cross Care and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has been lifted.
Southern Cross, which has facilities statewide, including Yaarandoo in Burnie and provides home and community services in the Devonport area, agreed to strengthen its complaints management framework, staff engagement and culture, and incident management.
The undertaking followed on from numerous complaints about care for residents and chronic staff shortages at Yaarandoo and other facilities.
Southern Cross Care CEO Esteban Cox says the lifting of the undertaking is a clear sign the commission recognises the provider is putting considerable effort into complying with its requirements.
