Residents of communities around Wynyard and Strahan may see an aircraft flying unusually low this week, but it’s nothing to worry about.
The aircraft will be conducting important flight path safety checks by ensuring instrument procedure flight paths operate safely.
The checks are being conducted by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, or CASA, whose regulations require approach procedures at all Australian airports to be checked every five years.
Devonport was last checked in 2023, meaning its next check won’t be due until 2028.
This week’s checks will take place at Wynyard on Tuesday and Wednesday, with Strahan to be checked on Friday
