Work on the new $13 million Burnie ambulance super-station has reached an important milestone, 12 months into the project.
When completed, the facility will house up to 18 ambulances to serve the greater North-West Coast.
Health Minister Guy Barnett says the project is on target for completion by the middle of next year and is importantly providing work for North-West Coasters during its construction phase, with Devonport-based Vos Constructions the lead contactor.
New ambulance stations are also nearing completion at Beaconsfield and Queenstown.
However, Shadow Health Minister Anita Dow says the Burnie super-station is overdue and over budget.
Ms Dow says the new facility was promised to be completed by 2021 at a cost of only $6 million
