North West Thunder basketballer Tre Armstrong has been released from his development player contract with the Tasmania JackJumpers.
The 23 year-old has informed the Jackjumpers he needs some time away from basketball at the end of the NBL-1 season with the Thunder.
The Tasmania Jack Jumpers CEO Jorrick Chivers says Armstrong requested the release and while the club will miss his talents, but understands being a Jack Jumper and a professional athlete is a huge commitment.
Chivers says the club respects Armstrong’s reasoning and reassessment of his contract and wishes him the best
He says the JackJumpers will be keeping in touch with Armstrong and will leave the door open for him to be involved with the club in the future.
Armstrong graduated from California Baptist University earlier this year before returning to the Coast and playing with the Thunder.
The Thunder will play their final home game of the NBL-1 South Conference at Ulverstone on Friday against Keilor.
