Bass Strait Wind Zone Declared

Wind farm investors can start working towards whether they want to be involved in developments in the Bass Strait.

A wind zone 30 kilometres instead of 20 off the coast of northern Tasmania has been declared and its size is less at 7100 square kilometres.

Adjustments were made due to feedback and now state Energy Minister Nick Duigan (left in above photo) is consulting on how to get the ball rolling.

“Industry participants here at Bell Bay about what they envisage for our offshore renewable services hub that we have committed some funding for here at Bell Bay, I know TasPorts is already doing some scoping about what their offering will look like long term, so a lot going on.”
