Beach-goers are being warned to stay alert after sightings of the toxic blue-ringed octopus on North-West beaches.
Sightings have been reported near Devonport and Ulverstone.
The venomous cephalopod is usually found in tidal rock pools, and while it may look pretty, it can deliver a toxic bite if it feels threatened.

The tetrodotoxin, if not treated, can cause total body paralysis and death if not treated.
People are being reminded to not disturb the creature and seek immediate medical assistance if bitten.
