Bob Brown Fights Charge

Greens veteran Bob Brown has faced court on a trespass charge.

The 78 year old appeared before Magistrate Jackie Hartnett in Hobart.

The charge arose in November when Dr Brown and co-accused Kristie Lee Alger and Karen Lynne Weldrick (also pictured) were arrested in an Eastern Tiers coupe they claim was being illegally logged and is the habitat of the critically endangered Swift Parrot.

All three accused entered a plea of not guilty through their barrister Roland Browne.

The trio were bailed to September 7, a date Dr Brown told media outside the court was significant as it marked the death of the last known Tasmanian Tiger at Hobart’s Beaumaris zoo in 1936.
