A minor bushfire at West Ulverstone on Wednesday serves as a reminder the bushfire season is already underway, according to the Tasmania Fire Service.
Nine units from Ulverstone, Penguin and Devonport responded to the fire on a steep North-facing hill below Upper Maud St just after midday.
Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in around three and a half hours, with the scene being patrolled overnight.
A bushfire advice warning was issued during firefighting operations warning of smoke around Ulverstone, but the Fire Service says there was no immediate threat to nearby residences.
It says the fire is a timely reminder that the bushfire season is upon us following a dry winter, with conditions getting drier.
