Work has started on the long-awaited $1.2 million upgrade of sporting facilities at Devonport’s Byard Park.
The ground currently caters for cricket, junior football, women’s social cricket, Devonport Football Club training sessions, and high school football, but the 50 year-old on-site amenities are sadly well past their use-by date.
The Byard Park project, which has been funded by the Federal Government, will include new clubrooms and storage for user groups, expanded changerooms, including female facilities, spectator seating and ground lighting for the first time.
Devonport Mayor Allison Jarman says the upgrades are long overdue.
