Coast to get caught up in World Cup fever

The North-West Coast will be caught up in Women’s Soccer World Cup fever as the event gets underway on Thursday.

Football Tasmania is hosting come and try soccer sessions at Meercroft Park in Devonport on Friday.

The free two-hour girls only sessions will cater for 6-9 year-olds from 10am to midday, and from 1-3 pm for 9-12 year-olds.

All games involving the Australian Matildas will also be shown on the big screen at Market Square in Devonport, including Thursday night’s opener against Ireland.

Meanwhile, Burnie teenager Tully Park is one of a number of young Tasmanian female soccer players who will carry a flag onto the ground during six matches to be played at AAMI Park in Melbourne.

The 16 year-old will be a part of the pre-match formalities for the match between Morocco and Germany on Monday at 4 pm.
