The North-West Coast has scored a major sporting coup with the 2025 Australian National Bowls Championships to be staged on the Coast next year.
The championships will see more than 650 lawn bowlers competing, with officials, coaches and supporters likely to push the number of visitors to the region to more than 1000.
The titles will be staged over 15 days of competition between November 12th and 27th in Devonport and Burnie.
The championships will be contested in six categories, with the Devonport Country Club hosting five and the Burnie Bowls Club hosting the Australian para-bowls nationals.
Sports and Events Minister Nic Street says getting the nationals in Tasmania is a big coup for the state and will bring considerable economic benefits to the North-West Coast.
The championships will be contested in singles, pairs, triples, and fours in under 18, para and open categories for men and women.
