Coastal basketball legend Lou Cox has been inducted as a bloodlines member of the Tasmania Jack Jumpers, Tasmania’s unofficial basketball hall of fame.
Cox is also a life member of the Montello Basketball Club, Burnie basketball Association, North West Basketball Union and Basketball Tasmania.
He was president of the NWBU for more than 30 years and on the board of Basketball Tasmania for nine years, including six as president.
While he achieved much as an administrator, Cox also had a successful career as a coach, first getting involved in the 1970s when his children started to play.
He eventually went on to coach the Tasmanian under 20 men’s team, with one of his most memorable achievements coming in 1982 at the national championships at Nowra (NSW) when the Tasmanian team defeated a Victorian team which included Andrew Gaze.
