Food Organics, Garden Organics or FOGO kerbside recycling will start on the North-West Coast on July 5 next year.
The rollout to Kentish, Latrobe, Devonport, Burnie, Waratah-Wynyard and Circular Head councils is being co-ordinated by the Dulverton Waste Management Authority, which has advertised for a project manager to oversee the introduction of the much-anticipated programme.
Central Coast has been running it’s own FOGO service since 2019, but will come on board with its neighbours.
It’s anticipated wheelie bins will be distributed to householders up to six weeks before commencement.
Construction is already well underway on a closed-loop $16 million organics recycling facility at Dulverton, near Railton, which will handle all organic waste for the North-West Coast.
