The lack of volunteer drivers has hit yet another Coastal not-for-profit.
The Cancer Council Tasmania recently put the call out for more volunteer drivers to help run its Treatment 2 Transport programme for cancer patients with services at Smithton, Burnie and Devonport.
Now the Community Transport Services Tasmania, (CTST) says it’s also experiencing a shortage of volunteer drivers on the North West Coast.
The service, based at Ulverstone, says it urgently needs drivers, even if they can only do one day a week.
CTST provides affordable door-to-door transport service for the elderly and disabled to get to medical appointments, shopping, social events and outings, as well as a group transport service to various activities.
