The North-West Coast’s accommodation businesses had the lowest occupancy rate in the state for the month of July, according to the Tasmanian Hospitality Association’s monthly occupancy report.

Occupancy statewide sat at 62.9 per cent, up 6.2 per cent from June’s lowest occupancy rate for the past three years.

The July figure is also up 1.06 per cent on July last year.

However, it’s not so rosy for the North-West Coast, with just 41.6 per cent of rooms occupied for July, down 3.46 per cent from June and 4.67 per cent from last July.

The annual occupancy rate is sitting at 60.53 per cent, well below the state average of 73.4 per cent.

Tasmanian Hospitality president Steve Old says the statewide increase for July was due to a number of well-attended winter events in the South and East of the state which attracted visitors to Tasmania.
