Extending the Coastal Pathway by 74 km from Wynyard to Stanley could still be some time away.
A feasibility study into the project will be tabled at tonight’s Waratah-Wynyard Council’s monthly meeting for December, with a recommendation that no action be taken other than noting the report.
The original 110km planned pathway from Latrobe to Wynyard, still has gaps between Ulverstone and Penguin and between Heybridge and Burnie.
The Central Coast Council has commissioned a feasibility study into the Penguin to Ulverstone link.
The most recent section completed was between Cooee and Wynyard, prompting calls to have it extended to Stanley.
Much of the pathway completed so far has included significant Federal and State Government funding, which has been noted in the report to be tables tonight.
Last month the Circular Head Council also voted to hit the pause button on extending the pathway for now.
