Tasmania’s active Coronavirus case numbers have fallen overnight, after a sharp jump at the start of the month.
1,144 new infections have been recorded in the past 24 hours,
Public Health is monitoring 6,933 active cases, down from yesterday’s 7,400+
More than half of those cases can be found in the South of the state, while authorities report 1,622 active cases in the north and 1,139 active cases in the North West.
47 Covid-positive patients are in hospital, with five patients being cared for in the ICU.
Four people are being monitored in a Community Case Management Facility, with 650 people registered under COVID@homeplus.
Sadly, two Tasmanians have passed away from COVID 19.
A woman aged in her 70s and a woman aged in her 90s, have both died in the State’s North-West.
Vaccination rates are continuing to climb with over half of all kids aged 5-11 years old now fully vaccinated.
63.14% of children in the age group have received their first Covid jab.
Over 72% of Tasmanians 16 years and older have received their first booster.
That figure sits at more than 86% for locals over 50 years old.
Mask mandates have been lifted for a number of settings, Premier Jeremy Rockliff reminding us to keep up Covid-safe behaviours.
