Thoughts have turned to those who lost their lives to Covid in Tasmania’s parliament, the state’s toll standing at 201 since the start of the pandemic.
The reflection was brought on by the Greens who have been consistently at odds with the government dropping Covid transmission prevention rules.
Greens leader Cassy O’Connor noted 186 of the lives were lost since the border opened on December 15 last year.
“One was between the age of 30 and 39, three were between 40 and 49 years of age, 11 between the ages of 50 and 59, at these ages people should be able to look forward to many more years of life.”
The Premier has conveyed his sympathies to those touched by loss.
“Sincere, heartfelt condolences to family members, friends and colleagues of the 201 Tasmanians who have died with Covid since the start of the pandemic and recognises these Tasmanians were loved and valued members of their families and communities whose lives were tragically cut short.”
Deputy Labor leader Anita Dow sending her thoughts.
“For noone has it been more difficult time than for those Tasmanians that have lost their loved ones, their friends, their colleagues, their family members to Covid and I too want to put on the record sincere condolences.”
