The Development application for Firmus Technologies proposed AI Factory at Wesley Vale has been received by Latrobe council, after more information was requested.

The 52-megawatt facility is Firmus Technologies’ third endeavor in the state as the company progresses a 104-megawatt center in Launceston, and this week secured approval for a 288-megawatt center at Bell Bay.

The proposed 24/7 facility includes a data hall building, a guard house, cooling and access infrastructure, as well as 40 back-up generators.

The EPA has assessed the center as low risk, handing responsibility to Council to consider permit conditions around noise, emissions and storm water management.

The DA also includes advice from TasWater showing they won’t supply a connection to the Mill Road site

Public representations can be made to Latrobe Council until September 9.
