The best arm bowlers in Australia are in Devonport for the 9th National Bowling Arm Championships this week.
Arm bowling allows bowlers to use a mechanical device or arm to grip and release the bowl without bending over.
Bowling arms were introduced into the sport of lawn bowls in the early 2000s and there are now more than 40,000 users throughout Australia, with 250 in Tasmania.
Use a bowling allows those who would otherwise be unable to continue or take up lawn bowls such as elderly and disabled.
The national championships will start today at the Devonport Country Club and conclude on Friday.
The mixed gender tournament will include singles, pairs, triples and fours competition.
