It’s hoped that compulsory voting and reducing the number of preferences will see an increase in the number of ballots returned in Launceston at the upcoming council elections.

The city was almost 10 percent below the State average at the 2018 elections, returning just 25,295 out of a possible 47,309 – or 53.47%.

Voting opens on October 3 for three weeks and is entirely by post.
