Crash investigators have spent Thursday night on the scene of a fatal smash at Ulverstone.
A local man died after the car he was driving collided with another on the Devonport-bound lanes of the Bass Highway at about 8:10 pm.
A sedan then hit debris from the wreck, police yet to indicate whether there were any other serious injuries.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of a silver Mazda BT50 ute and a silver Holden Commodore ute in the area to get in touch.
