Flood insurance inquiry to take evidence on the Coast

The Federal inquiry into insurers’ responses to 2022 major floods claims will hear evidence on he North-West Coast later this month.

The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Economics will hold a public hearing at the Paranaple Convention Centre in Devonport on July 17th.

The committee is keen to hear from people affected by the floods as well as local councils and businesses.

The floods, in October 2022 caused widespread damage in the Latrobe, Kentish, Central Coast, Burnie and Waratah-Wynyard Municipalities.

Committee chair Daniel Mulino MP says the committee is interested in the experiences of policyholders before, during and after making claims, time-frames for resolving claims, obstacles to resolving claims, insurers’ communication with policyholders, affordability of insurance premiums and claimants’ experiences of insurers’ dispute resolution processes.
