Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says the Federal Government could buy financially troubled airline REX to keep regional communities connected.
The Government threw a lifeline to the airline after it entered administration last year and now says it could buy the airline if it doesn’t find a private buyer.
Rex currently operates daily flights in and out of Devonport, Burnie and King Island.

The PM says if the Government acquired REX, the price would separate and on top of the $130 million already it has provided, but says the airline is critical for regional and rural communities.
