Lambie party to target Tasmanian State seats

The Jacqi Lambie Network is looking to expand into state politics.

With the 2025 Tasmanian election to see the number of House of Assembly seats increase from 25 to 35, there’s a likelihood a bigger number non-major party candidates could be elected.

The Network currently has two Tasmanian Senators, with in party founder Jacqi Lambie, based in the Braddon Electorate at Burnie, and Tammy Tyrell, formerly from Ulverstone, now based in the Bass Electorate in Launceston.

The party says it will target seats in the next state election in Braddonand Bass, as well as Lyons, which also includes parts of the North-West and West Coasts.

It ran 12 candidates in the 2018 state election in the same electorates without success, but opted out of the 2021 election.

Despite persistent rumours of an early election, Premier Jeremy Rockliff says the Government will run its full term.

Meanwhile, Labor and The Greens have begun informal pre-selection of candidates in the belief an early election is more probable.
