Launceston motorists are being urged to fill up now ahead of the rise in petrol prices later this week.
The federal government’s fuel excise will be returned to its full amount from midnight Wednesday.
It’s expected to add around 23 cents to the cost of a litre of fuel.
The RACT is urging motorists to shop around for the best prices using its app.
The auto club says a new feature in the app allows users to report incidences of prices not matching up with what is showing on the app.
The RACT says prices should not rise dramatically as there are millions of litres in reserve throughout the system which were purchased at the discounted rate.
Unleaded 91 was available at Launceston as low as 161.9 cents on Tuesday morning.
