Medicare bulk billing reforms to benefit 61,000 North-West Coasters

North-West based Labor Senator Anne Urquhart is welcoming the boost to Medicare by increasing payments to GPs who bulk bill, by the Federal Government, which took effect on Wednesday.

Senator Urquhart says it’s the biggest investment in the Medicare system since it started 40 years ago.

She says more than 61,000 people in the Braddon Electorate will now be eligible for bulk billing, including 49,000 concession card holders and 12,000 children.

Senator Urquhart says the Government’s investments into bulk billing is a game changer and will make a big difference in Braddon.

She says it’s important for people on the North-West Coast to be able to see a doctor when and where they need at little or no cost.
