More than 270 graduate nurses will start work in the Tasmanian health system in coming weeks and months, including many on the North-West Coast.
Health Minister Guy Barnett says 135 will be employed in the South, 80 in the North, and 56 on the North-West Coast at the North West Regional Hospital in Burnie and the Mersey Community Hospital at Latrobe, as well as in district hospitals and community and mental health services.
Mr Barnett says another smaller intake of nurses is scheduled for mid-year.
Executive director of nursing, Danielle Causer says some of the graduate nurses started work last week and more will join over the next two months.
