The Devonport City Council has approved plans for a multi-million dollar retail complex with frontage on Formby Road.
A report to be tabled at last night’s monthly meeting for June, recommended the development application be approved for a site currently occupied by Shane Hill Electrical and the adjoining former site of the Finlayson Brothers Foundry, which also has access from the rear via Finlayson Way.
The developer behind the proposal is eminent interstate Melbourne-based real estate development group Cadre, which lists large format retail development among its portfolio.
The application describes the project as a bulky goods retail centre, and according to the company’s website, the development will bring a multi-level large format retail centre with three national retailers to occupy the complex.
The cost of the development hasn’t been revealed, but the land had been on the market for $1.8 million.
