After three years of design development and community consultation, the final plans for the new Bridgewater Bridge have been released.
It confirms there’ll be no rail track on the four-lane span which will also include a shared walk and cycleway.
There’ll be free-flowing access from the Brooker to the Lyell Highway and a direct connection from Bridgewater.
Works are already underway on-site, including vegetation removal and clearing, land reclamation and preparation for the construction of a temporary bridge.
As work on the project ramps up over coming months, drivers are asked to allow extra time for travel through the area, follow the posted speed limit and obey the instructions of traffic controllers.
It’s due to open to traffic at the end of 2024 with final completion in mid 2025.
