E-scooter operator Beam is reminding riders to take care this summer, with a new safety campaign.
A video has been launched, focusing on six key messages:
- Wear your helmet
- Don’t use your phone while riding
- Don’t drink and ride
- Give way to pedestrians
- Don’t tandem ride
- Park responsibly after use

Beam General Manager Tom Cooper believes safety for both riders and pedestrians is the company’s biggest priority.
“Our industry-leading e-scooters have inbuilt sensors and speed controls, a helmet with every ride, and an in-app safety school to educate riders on how to ride safely,” he says.
“We know education is key to good rider behaviour and we take that commitment seriously.”
The purple scooter company has been on the streets of Hobart and Launceston for the past 12 months, with the micromobility trial recently extended until 2023.
