Works on the construction of a $250 million purpose-built terminal at the Port of Devonport’s East No. 3 Berth for the replacement vessels for the Spirits of Tasmania is expected to start next month.
The project is expected to provide up to 2000 jobs during the construction phase and will be ready for the new vessels in April 2024.

Tasports has broken the project up into smaller packages to allow Tasmanian companies to bid for tenders, the first of which will be announced in coming weeks.
Tasports chief operating officer Stephen Casey says once the project is completed, work will start on upgrading the adjacent East No. 2 berth to accommodate the larger Searoad replacement for the Lekuit, currently being built in Germany
