The new installation features a 65-metre dedicated tug berth pontoon, with a new 30 metre small vessel at the Northern end of Berth 3 West nearing completion as well.

TasPorts CEO Anthony Donald says the project has increased operational flexibility, providing safe and level access for tug crews, enhancing safety, efficiency and capacity.

Meanwhile, a new upgraded boat ramp, jetty associated facilities is due to be opened today at Emu Bay at South Burnie.

Work crews are putting the finishing touches to the project, which is expected to be open to the public later today.

The $930,000 project was funded by $630,000 in State Government grants and $300,000 from the Burnie City Council.
