Nurses and midwives working at the North-West Coast’s two hospitals are exhausted, frustrated and angry their concerns are not being listened to by the State Government.
Meetings at both the Mersey Community Hospital at Latrobe and the North West Regional Hospital in Burnie have resolved to consider industrial action if the Government doesn’t start to take them seriously.
Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation Tasmanian branch secretary Emily Shepherd says the State Government will be presented with a list of priorities for what members want to see happen in the Coast’s two hospitals and are also seekiing a commitment that health cuts are ruled out of the upcoming state budget in September.
Ms Shepherd says industrial action is a last resort, but members say they are running our of options.
