Penguin NWBU premiership player Jacob Richards has been signed up as a development player for the Tasmania Jack Jumpers in the upcoming National Basketball League season.

Hobart-based Richards has also played in the NBL-1 competition with the North West Thunder, but this year played with the Hobart Chargers in the same competition.

22 year-old Richards was a key part of the Blues’ NWBU premiership, top scoring with 25 points in the grand final, averaging more than 18 points a game during the season.

He says it’s a dream come true.

Richards’ two-year deal comes only weeks after former Somerset basketballer Lachie Barker was also signed by the Jack Jumpers as a nominated replacement player.

The NBL season starts on September 29, with the Jackies travelling to WA to take on the Perth Wildcats, with the first home game in Hobart against the Sydney Kings on October 6th.
