North-West boaties will have easier access to Bass Strait at low tide from next year, with the Penguin boat ramp to get a $200,000 upgrade.
The upgrade is being funded from Marine and Safety Tasmania’s infrastructure budget, with work to start in April on improving usability at low tide.
The Penguin boat ramp is one of only two in the area providing direct access to Bass Strait, with another at South Burnie, which has deep water access and is protected by rock walls and port infrastructure.
The latest upgrade follows on from improvements to both high and low tide ramps at Penguin in 2010.
