TasPorts has started work on seabed levelling in the Port of Burnie.
The work, which started yesterday, is being carried out near at berths 5, 6 and 9 and is expected to take around three weeks to complete.
TasPorts says the works are being done from a dredging barge on the surface of the water and is not expected to impact on port users and will work around scheduled shipping.
Meanwhile, work is continuing on replacement of timber fenders at the West No. 4 Berth in the Port of Devonport.
The work, which started in February, includes installation of 24 new fender piles and 12 new rubber fenders, which is expected to be completed by the end of June.
