Royal Hobart Hospital’s ongoing strain to cover demand has been linked to a death this week by the Greens in state parliament.
Yesterday (Wednesday), the hospital was escalated to level 2 in its Covid management plan due to infections increasing, exacerbating staff shortages through sick leave.
In state parliament, Greens MP Rosalie Woodruff has asked the Premier to acknowledge policy failures that are leading to ambulance ramping are life threatening.
Rosalie Woodruff: “Premier, we understand a woman died while she was ramped at the Royal two days ago after lying there for two hours.”
Jeremy Rockliff: “We’re doing a lot of work to alleviate the pressures of ambulance ramping and the access and flow right through….”
The Greens suggest the state’s government’s inadequate Covid transmission prevention policy has further hamstrung the hospital.
