Tasmanian Labor senator Helen Polley has used social media to claim a dunny worth $10,000 was built in 2019 for a visit to the area by former Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

The Senator said she was told about the situation by the local landowner, describing the matter as “extraordinary”, and adding that the situation needs investigating.

She says she has referred the matter to relevant committees, and says it needs to be established if, in fact, the toilet was built specifically for the PM.

The Senator described the structure as “out in the middle of nowhere” and not being used.

The landowner says it’s possible the outhouse could have been constructed by Tasmanian Irrigation as it was on land they bought from him. However, it appeared on the property at a time when the PM was expected to visit.
