Seven Coasters to wear “the map”

Reigning Darrel Baldock medallist Bailey Boag has been selected in the Tasmanian team to play Queensland in Saturday’s interstate football clash.

Boag, of Burnie, is the only NWFL player to make the final cut, with the remainder of the side chosen from Tasmanian State League teams, with no-one from the Launceston-based NTFA competition being selected.

Former Devonport coach Kurt Byard, who also recently coached the NWFL men’s team to a win over the Southern Football League, has been appointed an assistant to state head coach Aaron Corneluis.

Meanwhile, six Coastal players have been named in the Tasmania women’s team to play Queensland on Saturday as well.

The NWFL recently won the AFL Tasmania Women’s All-Star Series, defeating both the NTFA and SFL, with three players from Wynyard and Penguin each making the final cut for the state side.

Penguin twins Libby and Chloe Haines will wear the famous map gurnsey, along with Two Blues team-mate Shania Saward and Wynyard trio Jess Whelan, Olivia Smith, and Amy Bissett.

Olivia Smith has been named vice-captain.
