Hobart’s waterfront stadium in the Tassie AFL deal has burnt up most of today’s (Tuesday) time in state parliament.
The government had finalising its budget in mind for the final week of sitting before a long winter break.
But Labor leader Rebecca White has mustered support of the Greens and independents to keep pressure on the Premier to release more documentation on the stadium deal.
“He continues to hide behind convenient excuses like it’s cabinet in confidence, you’ve got to trust me when I say that, he says….and then today comes in here and disproves his own statement by tabling more information that’s not cabinet in confidence, information that should have been shared with this parliament on the 1st of June which is what the parliament ordered the government to do.”
Greens leader Cassy O’Connor also let rip at Jeremy Rockliff.
“We’ve so had a gutful of the dishonesty, the unwillingness to just be open and transparent and even when you say you will you fail.”
Liberal minister Guy Barnett hitting back.
“We won’t be bullied, we won’t be a pushover for the opposition, they are just about causing instability and undermining confidence in the community.”
